Beyond Fly Fishing

The Yucatan offers more than fly fishing. This region is rich in cultural heritage, with ancient Mayan ruins like Tulum and Chichen Itza offering a glimpse into its pre-Columbian past. The bustling city of Cancun provides a lively nightlife, exquisite dining, and luxurious accommodations. Nature lovers can explore the stunning cenotes—natural sinkholes filled with crystal-clear water—or venture into the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site teeming with diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Whether you're snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs, enjoying water sports, or simply relaxing on the pristine beaches, the Yucatan Peninsula promises a well-rounded and unforgettable experience beyond the fishing rod. Our trip will include the best highlights of Yucatan culture and history including a day trip to Chichen Itza, a visit and swim in the cenotes, and a tequila tasting.

This is not a roughing it, backcountry trip; instead, you'll enjoy modern accommodations at the Hotel Riu Dunamar, complete with all-inclusive luxury and top-notch amenities located right along the shoreline and just minutes from the boat ramp. What to Bring & Weather in Yucatan

We recommend bringing lightweight, breathable clothing, including long-sleeve shirts and pants for sun protection, a wide-brimmed hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, a waterproof bag, and comfortable footwear for both fishing and exploring the cultural sites.

January in Cancun is the best month of the year for a fly fishing trip, with pleasant temperatures, low humidity, and the middle of dry season. Daytime highs typically range from 75°F to 82°F, while evenings cool down to 65°F to 70°F.
